April Feature (2017)

Yes! It's here! We are a third way through this year! Let's go! A lot has happened this and last year, but I don't want to get into a political or ethical debate with anyone, so I'm not going to go into detail, but basically I just want to say I'm really proud of you guys for getting this far! <3

I know right about now is a very stressful time period, so good job getting this far!

I just want to highlight a few people in particular who's works deserve to be featured! These are just new resources/art I've discovered in the past four months.

Why Use Photoshop (or design in general)?

Firstly, let's talk about what counts as designing in general. Personally I believe designing can be categorised into two sections. The first is taking a bunch of images, and blending them together to create something new and different. Like this: Bloody Snow Manipulation by jakepatt
The second is creating the image yourself, via digital art (no examples yet)

I'm not talking about textures or PSDs here. I'm talking about artwork. I'm also kinda disregarding simple covers, but whatever.

Anyways, a lot of people, especially older ones, think that designing should be just a hobby, and personally I mostly see it like that myself. Yet I view it in a different way. Those older people think that the only thing art will get you is a spot on the pavement (a starving artist). But in today's world that's not true. While I must say that traditional art views have changed, and (I personally think that they've gotten worse), digital art is whole other stories. Some people can sell paintings of potatoes for thousands of dollars, while digital artists pour so many hours and money into their work and make nearly nothing, if anything at all. But that's not to say that there is no money in designing. As the world reshapes, soon paper books will be a thing of the past, and everything will start to move onto the Internet. Traditional painting will lose its value, but digital art will never. And truly design is an art form to be admired, because when you paint or draw you can make anything you want, but when you design each elements needs to be searched up and blended together so it looks natural, unlike painting where everything will look pretty natural (if proportionate) already.

And now onto Photoshop. Photoshop, and most Adobe platforms, support this kind of belief and views. Photoshop allows you to do so many things, and to be honest it's a bit simpler than the free things. While it has hundreds of tools, the only reason for that is because each tool is meant to do something that would actually have taken much longer than on another program. Another reason Photoshop is viewed as so complex, is because people spend hours on designs. Well trust me, on things like Pixlr or GIMP it would take three times as long to do the exact same thing, simply because of the different tools.

I truly do recommend that you get Photoshop (and if you can, don't get the fake ones! It wastes time, and it's an insult to the incredible software designers that made Photoshop. They deserve it, and you'll probably end up making quite a bit of money if you're dedicated to it).

Oh, and a reminder to all: PHOTOSHOP ISN'T JUST USED TO MAKE PEOPLE "PRETTIER"! IT'S ALSO NOT A SELF-ESTEEM LOWER-ER! PHOTOSHOP HAS A LARGE RANGE OF USES, SO DON'T THINK THAT MAGAZINES AND FASHION IS ALL THERE IS TO IT!

I know most of you don't think that way, but I just wanted to say it...

Have an amazing rest of the year! <3
